Journalists and commentators keep asking the questions, “Is it time for a Black President?” and “Is it time for a Woman President?”
These questions imply that there is some form of scheduled allocation attached to who may be President, much like this being the year of the Rat in the Chinese calendar.
If there were such a thing as an allocation, both parties would have to limit their candidates to women, black men, or blind persons etc., depending on the special category of the year.
The simple answer for both questions is, NO!
Neither the gender nor the race of a candidate should ever be a deciding factor in the election of any elected official.
