Can't build no stinking refineries

I just love Congress (You have to be nice to the mentally challenged)!

For the past 20+ years, every attempt by the oil producers to build new refineries has been blocked by court action, environmental regulations,and/or local opposition (NIMBY). As a result, we have a serious shortage of refinery capacity which is driving up the cost of fuel.

Experts tell us that under current regulations, it is impossible to build a refinery in the USA. A year ago, the 109th House killed a bill that would have helped resolve the problems with building new refineries, but instead, passed a bill to punish a crime that has never happened--Price Gouging by a major oil producer.

That's right the Fed.'s have audited all the major oil producers over and over and over and never found ANY EVIDENCE of price gouging or price fixing. That's right, no crime was EVER committed. But Congress, being the mind dumb asses that they are, gave us a bipartisan screwing by not passing a good bill and passing instead a phony "Feel Good" bill in an effort to buy our votes.
