Info Post
Congressional leaders like to tell us, “We have a mandate to redeploy (code for surrender) the troops in Iraq”. They claim that was the message of voters in November 2006.

However, voters said in the exit polls from the November 2006 election, that the reasons were:

1. Corruption
2. The Economy
3. Terrorism
4. The desire for more success in Iraq

Surrender or redeployment did not make the list.

These same leaders also claim that the polls show 72% in favor of withdrawal.

The typical question that gets 72% support is:

“Are you in favor of bringing the troops home?”
With that question one has to wonder who would say “NO!”. We all want our troops to be safe at home.

When the question is:
“Do you favor bringing the troops home before Iraq is stabilized?”
Or
“Do you favor a surrender in Iraq?”
The yes vote drops well below 20%

If there were a mandate, they would not have failed in more than 45 attempts to pass legislation that would force a withdrawal.

The truth is that neither Representatives nor Senators are hearing from the voters at home that they want to quit at any cost.
